Explore the historical wonders of Northern Ethiopia on this 6-day adventure with Ethio Target Tours. Visit Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, Lake Tana monasteries, the Blue Nile Falls, Gondar’s royal castles, and the breathtaking Simien Mountains National Park. Experience Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage, dramatic mountain landscapes, and unique wildlife while enjoying guided trekking and cultural sightseeing.
Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Visit the National Museum, which exhibits numerous antiquities, historical relics, archaeological and paleontological objects including the 3.5 million-year-old skeleton of Lucy. Continue to St. George Cathedral, Merkato, and Mount Entoto for panoramic views of Addis Ababa.
Overnight: Triple E Hotel
Day 2: Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar
In the morning, visit the island monasteries of Lake Tana, including Kibran Gabriel, Entos Eyesus, Ura Kidane Mihiret, and Azwa Mariam. In the afternoon, drive to Tis Abay to visit the Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tis Issat, meaning “smoking water.” Later, return to Bahir Dar and enjoy the fish market.
Overnight: Jacaranda Hotel, Bahir Dar
Day 3: Bahir Dar – Gondar
Drive to Gondar and visit the Royal Enclosure surrounded by high stone walls containing the 17th-century palaces of King Fasiladas, King Iyasu, Queen Mentewab, and other historical buildings. Continue to Fasiladas’ Bath and Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its beautifully painted angel ceiling. If time permits, visit Kuskuam Complex.
Overnight: AG Hotel, Gondar
Day 4: Gondar – Sankaber
Drive from Gondar to Sankaber via Debark, where trekking staff including scouts, guides, and cooks will be arranged. Trek for 3–4 hours around Sankaber while enjoying the scenic landscapes of the Simien Mountains.
Overnight: Camping at Sankaber
Day 5: Explore Simien Mountains – Return to Gondar
Trek for approximately 2.5 hours to the spectacular Jinbar Waterfall. Along the way, enjoy stunning landscapes, endemic wildlife, flowers, and trees. There is also the possibility of spotting klipspringers, bushbucks, and gelada baboons.
Overnight: AG Hotel
Day 6: Gondar – Addis Ababa
After breakfast, fly back to Addis Ababa.
