9 Days Tour to the Southern part of Ethiopia
Overview
Pick you up at Gondar Airport or your hotel, and drive along a good paved road from Gondar to the park headquarters in Debark. The 100 km journey will take around two hours. At the headquarters, we will arrange our permits to the park and pick up our scout. After that, we will drive for another hour before we start our first-day introductory walk. This first hike is an easy one along the northern edge of the escarpment with nice viewpoints over the foothills and plains of northern Ethiopia. You will encounter gelada baboon along this hike and overnight at Sankaber.
Day 1: Arba Minch – Nech sar National
Park – Lake Chamo – Arba – Minch, After brekfast fly to Arbaminch.
In the morning, will have a game drive around the Nech sar National Park. In the afternoon, we will take a boat ride on Lake Chamo to see some of the biggest African crocodiles and hippopotamuses.
Overnight: Mora-heights hotel
Day 2: Arba Minch – Turmi,
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Turmi, En-route visiting different cultural peoples and their villages including the Konso.
Overnight: Turmi Lodge.
Day 3: Turmi – Omorate – Turmi
In the cool morning, we will drive to Omorate to visit the Dassenech (Geleb) tribal village after crossing the Omo River by boat. In the afternoon, we will visit Hamer village. Here, we will enjoy seasonal cultural activities including the famous Evangadi (Hamer dancing).
Overnight: Turmi lodge
Day 4: Turmi – Keyafer – Jinka
After breakfast, we will drive to Jinka through Keyafer. At Keyefer, we will visit the colorful weekly Keyafer market.
Overnight: Jinka hotel
Day 5: Jinka – Arba-minch
After breakfast drive to Arba Minch, in the afternoon visit Dorze village. Overnight Haile resort.
Day 6: Arbaminch – Hawassa
On this day we will drive to and visit Hawassa in the afternoon.
Overnight: Hawassa.
Day 7: Hawassa – Awash National Park
After bedfast drive awash national park trip begins with a morning departure from Hawassa, After lunch, head out for a game drive to experience the park’s vibrant wildlife. Keep an eye out for oryx, baboons, greater and lesser kudu, warthogs, gazelles, and Columbus monkeys. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a leopard or a lion.
Overnight: Genet Hotel
Day 8: Awash National – Addis Ababa
On the second day of your 2-day Awash National Park trip, enjoy a refreshing breakfast at Kuriftu Resort before heading back to Addis Ababa. On your return journey, stop at the famous Sodere Hot Springs. Relax in the natural mineral-rich waters, a rejuvenating experience that complements your adventure in Awash National Park.
